I’ve known about the IBM, later Lenovo, ThinkPad notebook computer line since I was very young.
At some point, I decided they would be outside my interest range, so I opted for Dell, Acer, and Asus laptops personally for the longest time.
Well, a need came up for a “travel” machine, and my old hacked Chromebook running Linux isn’t cutting it any more.
What’s a girl to do? Find a used ThinkPad T480.
While this is an older machine, they can be had for not too much despite many YouTubers hyping them up as of late.
Mine came in today, and while it does need a little work still, it’ll serve me well I think.
I decided to put Arch Linux on it, though I had entertained Hackintoshing it.
Will I pick up a newer one for my future travel machine? Probably not. Signs keep pointing to Apple for that.
For now, though, I’ve got a good machine to take on the road with me, even if it lacks a dGPU. I can live without games on this machine, I think.
Until next time!
