I touched briefly on electronics in the last post. Okay, maybe not so briefly, but I think I should do a better job of surveying what I’d be carrying and what charging I would need.
Current potential devices (as of Oct 2025):
– Personal laptop (Acer Swift X) – while I believe this will charge over USB-C, it only has one USB-C port, so it would use its own somewhat bulky power adapter.
– Work laptop (Dell Latitude 5420) – USB-C charging capability
– iPhone SE (2nd Generation) – USB-A to Lightning cable, also Qi wireless charging
– Apple Watch Series 6 – USB-A to Apple Watch cable
– Apple AirPods – USB-A to Lightning cable, also Qi wireless charging
– NETGEAR M5 mobile router – USB-C charging capability
– SharkRF openSPOT3 – USB-C charging capability – currently using a USB-A to Micro-USB cable with a Micro-USB to USB-C adapter at home
– Anytone AT-D878UVII Plus VHF/UHF transceiver – USB-C charging capability – also has a USB-A programming cable
– Fuel-Rod USB battery – USB-A to Micro-USB cable
– Anker USB battery – USB-A to Micro-USB cable
Rundown of devices per unique cable:
USB-C: 5
USB-A to Lightning: 2 (3 if I pack my iPad)
USB-A to Micro-USB: 2
USB-A to Apple Watch: 1
Note: Chromecast or Roku Streaming Stick has its own USB cable for connecting to a TV’s USB port.
Of these, the majority of the devices will likely not need to be charged at the same time.
In the previous post I had mentioned the CARD Travel Adapter 4-Pro and how this might fit the bill for what I might need. Based on the current list, I think I can make it work. I can definitely make it work if I switch to a MacBook Air as planned.
I would like to have some sort of multi-wireless charger for my iPhone, my AirPods, and my Apple Watch. It would seem Anker has a good small one that seems to require its included power adapter. I suppose I could plug this into the universal socket on the CARD, which would relegate the CARD’s USB-C port to a laptop. That’s fine, actually.
So the output from the CARD would be like this:
Universal socket: multi-wireless charging adapter for phone, watch, and AirPods.
USB-C port: laptop charging for MacBook Air – note: the work laptop will use its own charger to a separate AC socket as needed on business trips.
USB-A port #1: USB-A to USB-C cable for charging NETGEAR M5
USB-A port #2: USB-A to Micro-USB cable for charging Micro-USB devices (USB-C adapter used for openSPOT3 and AnyTone radio)
USB-A port #3: Empty for other cables as needed.
This should work, I think.
