Last night, I moved my domains and their respective DNS hosting back to DreamHost until I can get settled elsewhere. I also put a ticket in with Coloblox that I wanted to derack my gear and discontinue service.
It’s kind of bittersweet as not only am I going to have the gear deracked before this year’s AWA, it’s going to be the last year AWA is at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel and Cobb Galleria Centre if rumors are to be believed. Considering I know someone who used to be a vice director of the con, I have good faith in them.
Anyway, AWA is in 3 weeks or so. I’m gonna be there, one person from the group I went to Animazement with and her partner are driving down, and a friend I’ve not seen in person in 4 years is flying in. Fortunately, there will only be one airport trip on arrival day, and only one airport trip on departure day. I’m still taking one extra day on the end of the con off as a recovery day, as I’ve done the past couple of years.
Even though I hopefully won’t be living in Metro Atlanta come next fall, I’m still going to go to closing ceremonies at the con just to see where around town they are moving to. If it’s somewhere that is accessible via MARTA, that potentially makes it more doable as I will have to join the “flying in” group for the con by necessity. This post will no longer be relevant after this year, however.
All this is hypothetical, of course, and I’m likely not going to AWA again after this year regardless of where I end up living in the next few months.
